Create your own book page

Wiki means quickMy dream is to make this site a collaborative work of users who wanted to share their expertise to the public. Authenticated users are now granted with the permission to create book pages. This feature is in beta mode, meaning, let us try some new, if it works then there is no need of stopping, but if the contents uploaded by the community are craps, nonsense, not useful, off topic, etc., then I will take off this feature. So create your book page now and together let us share our ideas responsibly.

I pledge to download Firefox 3

Firefox 3 Download DayThe Spread Firefox website is aiming to set a new Guinness world record for the most downloaded software in a 24 hour period. They are encouraging internet users to download Firefox 3 in a specified date. As of the writing of this blog, the date of download is not yet set but you can pledge to make a download by clicking the logo at the left.

Why use Firefox?
I always use Firefox in all my online transactions. It's fast, secure, easy to use and not buggy. I always wonder why many people are still using internet explorer (IE). In the side of website developers, IE is a painful browser, you need to create some patches to your code just to make your page look good in this browser. Firefox on the other hand is an open source product. Anybody, including you, yes you, can see or even modify/improve its underlying code. Community is directing its functionality and its not profit driven.

I nominated Drupal as the best tool for developers

I am not an IT professional, and don't have any knowledge of mySQL or php (at least for now) but I was able to made this site, a very flexible site and ready for any imaginable improvement in the future. I will not represent myself as expert source of advice about Content Management System (CMS) but LET MY VOICE address to people who are not on this field but happen to make website development as hobby, as past time, or a passion. Drupal is, with no doubt, the best CMS out there. I tried phpBB, b2evolution, phpNuke, DotNetNuke, Wordpress, SMF, Joomla, and many others, but I found Drupal the best among the rest. You want to know why? Then try it.

My Orkut Community

Orkut logoI happen to read a thread in one of my groups at friendster.com referring to Orkut, I forget who posted that but it says "you won't regret". So I made a try and I really did not regret. Orkut is in beta release but the community is awesome. Imagine the merge of friendster.com and Yahoo! answers, that's how cool is Orkut. I am not promoting it, but if you want a seamless network response of community with millions of simultaneous users, then the top answers are Google, Yahoo! and MSN.

Improve your Experience, Download The jsMath Fonts

jsMathDid you notice the small rectangle at the bottom right corner of your browser window that says "jsMath"? That is for launching the jsMath control panel once you click it.

Our site is using $jsMath$ to render mathematical equations $(LaTeX).$ Equations will display correctly with or without the jsMath fonts installed to your machine. However, if these fonts are installed into your computer, the equations will display far more better than without these fonts. You also have an option for high resolution printing of equations, once these fonts are installed. Try it now and see the difference.

NOTE: If you are using Opera 9.2 or older, the browser will halt due to jsMath. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or older, our logo won't look good due to browser itself.

Play this Game: Tower of Hanoi

Tower of HanoiThe Tower of Hanoi (also referred to as the Tower of Brahma) was invented by the French mathematician Edouard Lucas in 1883. He was inspired by a legend that tells of a Hindu temple where the pyramid puzzle was used for the mental discipline of young priests. More about the legend here

LATEX is now enabled in this site

About 3 months ago, I tried to enable $LATEX$ for this site but sad to say, it did not work. My desire to enable this functionality opted me to contact my host company. But unfortunately, $LATEX$ is one thing that they will not enable in a shared hosting. I tried many ways, read and read, made a bunch of trial and error in my local machine and finally, the fruit of my labor, its good to savor. What a satisfaction.

What is $LATEX$ anyway?
For this is a math site, $LATEX$ is an absolute need. It will give us the ability to enter inline equations like $f(x) = x^2 + 6x – 4$ and can easily input Greek alphabet like $\alpha$ and $\theta$.

Working with Image Gallery

The Image Gallery is in development. Capture those memories and share it to your friends. Much better if engineering related images will grow in this site.
