My Orkut Community

Orkut logoI happen to read a thread in one of my groups at friendster.com referring to Orkut, I forget who posted that but it says "you won't regret". So I made a try and I really did not regret. Orkut is in beta release but the community is awesome. Imagine the merge of friendster.com and Yahoo! answers, that's how cool is Orkut. I am not promoting it, but if you want a seamless network response of community with millions of simultaneous users, then the top answers are Google, Yahoo! and MSN.

Children of different raceOrkut is a Google product, if you log-in to your Google account then you're automatically logged-in to Orkut. I always check my Gmail almost daily, so it is not a pain to join Orkut. Of course, I first looked for math and engineering communities, and I found lot of them. One thing I observed is that most users are people from India, well I like this people because of their rich culture and history. Our digits (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0) came from these country and these people are very proud of their heritage. There is nothing better than being proud of where you came from. In this world where people can exchange ideas at their fingertips, don't be intimidated with people that are racist, they are just nonsense as a fool and coward as an idiot. Exchanging ideas to people with such history in mathematics is great, it's amazing.

Of course, my primary purpose is to promote this site... Smile You now see my true color. I invited them in non-obtrusive way by answering some questions and put some links to my site that are relevant to their query. Many responded to my invitation, most of them are readers, not participants of our Mathalino community. The most visited area of this site is the Strength of Materials, and most of these visitors are readers. Some also visited our forum and made an effort to register, logged-out then came back as a reader. Well, I hope they will participate soon when they feel comfortable with us.
