1.)The chord of a circle is 1.25m long and is located at a distance of 0.65m from the center of the circle. Find the area?

2.)A spherical tank has a capacity of 2700 cubic cm is partially filled with water.
What is the area of the circle formed by the water surface if it is 72 cm from the center of the sphere?

(please try to solve this so i can compare mine, tnx.)

Number 1

plane-chord-circle.gif

Area of the circle
$A = \pi r^2 = \pi (0.65^2 + 0.625^2) = 2.55 ~ \text{cm}^2$

Number 2
The radius of the sphere is only 8.63 cm. The distance 72 cm from the center is outside the tank.

tyron

R=8.638 cm.distance from the center 72 cm hehehehe
