Two spheres of lead, of radii 2 and 3 in., respectively, are melted into a cylinder of revolution of radius 1 in. Find the altitude of the cylinder.

**Solution 3**

Volume of cylinder = Volume of two spheres

$\pi (1^2)h = \frac{4}{3}\pi (2^3) + \frac{4}{3}\pi (3^3)$

$\pi (1^2)h = \frac{4}{3}\pi (2^3) + \frac{4}{3}\pi (3^3)$

$h = 46 \frac{2}{3} ~ \text{in.}$ *answer*
